10 Tips for Procreate

Updated: Feb 26, 2020

I’m simply in LOVE with the Procreate App! I’ve been using it for over a year now, and have some Procreate tips and tricks that I would love to share with you. Send me a message if you have any other questions!

#1

Streamline brushes

Within any brush you've selected on Procreate, you can modify the settings.

"Streamline" allows you to create smooth lines.

#2

Colours

Import a photo to use the eyedropper tool and create a matching colour theme.

Or you can use the colour wheel to create your own colour Palette within Procreate.

#3

Paint bucket

If you ever used Microsoft paint you'll be familiar with the paint bucket tool. To achieve this feature in Procreate drag and drop your colour circle into the area on your canvas.

#4

Straight Lines

To make a perfectly straight line, draw your line and hold your pencil at the finishing point.

#5

Merge Layers

To create objects with shading or access more layers once you are limited....

Merge layers by placing them over each other and select the "Merge Down" menu option.

#6

Undo

Undo is one of the most used tools within the program, this is why we opt to create on an iPad vs pen to paper. Simply tap with two fingers to undo your most recent move.

#7

Alpha lock

By enabling alpha lock on your layer, it can allow you to shade your shape without passing the lines

#8

Copy and Paste

Another common tool while illustrating is to copy and paste, for this shortcut swipe up with three fingers

#9

Selection tool

The selection tool allows you to move and manipulate objects within a layer.

#10

Time Lapse

Procreate's most unique feature for creators is the built-in timelapse function.

You have to enable it within settings.

This will allow you to replay your process from start to finish!
